Notes from the Google Webmaster Hangouts on the 15th of November, 2016.

Multiple Domain Moves is OK

You can move backwards and forwards between domains using 301 redirects to do a clean move to a temporary domain, then another move to a new or old domain.

External Links to Images Don’t Impact Web Search

Linked images from external sites are only factored into image search and don’t affect web search.

Manual Link Penalties are Relative to Industry

If every site for an industry is engaged in link spamming, Google might not decide to penalise them manually as there are no alternative sites to show. Or they might try to algorithmically ignore the spammy ranking factors.

Don’t Cloak Lazy Loading Images

If images are not visible to Google because they are lazy loading or below the fold, you shouldn’t be cloaking them for Google.
